Detailed itinerary for 19 day best Uganda Safari Adventure
Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe and transfer to the booked accommodation
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be welcomed by your guide/tour operator, who will transfer you to your booked accommodation in Kampala.
Day 2: Travel to Mbale through Jinja, the source of the river Nile.
After breakfast, drive to Mbale via Jinja with a stop at the source of the Nile in Jinja. Continue with your journey to Mbale and check in for dinner and overnight at your booked accommodation.
Day 3: Nature walk and Sipi Fall Hiking
This day will start with a nature walk to the spectacular Sipi falls after breakfast. With your packed lunch and lots of drinking water, you will begin your adventure at Crow’s Nest, a camping and lodging site. You will go through different local communities and get to see coffee plantations and perhaps get to practically learn how coffee is grown by these communities. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Transfer from Mbale to Murchison Falls National Park
After breakfast, you will transfer to Murchison falls National Park with lunch en route. The journey is long but quite interesting, seeing different local communities. Upon your arrival, you will check into your booked safari lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Morning game drive and boat cruise on the River Nile
After your early morning breakfast, we will set out for a morning game drive. Return for lunch, and later set out for a two-hour boat cruise to the bottom of Murchison falls from where the rushing water escapes through a narrow gorge, forming a great thunder. The cruise is also a great opportunity to see different aquatic wildlife like hippos, Nile crocodiles, and lots of bird species along the riverbanks. Return from the boat cruise for an evening game drive, a good chance to see some of the wild animals that you may not have seen on the morning game drive. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
DAY 6: TRANSFER FROM MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK TO KIBALE FOREST PARK
After breakfast, you will transfer to Kibale forest National Park driving southwest through the Albertine Escarpment of the great Western Rift Valley with a stop for lunch. Upon your arrival in Kibale, you will check into your booked safari lodge for dinner and overnight.
DAY 7: CHIMPANZEE TRACKING KIBALE AND TRANSFER TO SEMLIKI NATIONAL PARK
Wake up to an early morning breakfast and transfer to the park headquarters for the briefing before your encounter with the man’s closest relative. After chimpanzee tracking, you will return to the lodge for lunch, check out and later set out to explore Bigodi Swamp for a chance to see the rare and beautiful shoe-billed stork. From your adventure at Bigodi, you will set out to Semliki for dinner and overnight.
DAY 8: VISIT SEMPAYA HOT SPRINGS AND TRANSFER TO QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK
After your breakfast and checking out of your safari lodge, you will drive to the Sempaya hot springs and explore these beautiful male and female hot springs. Later, you will transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park to check into your booked safari lodge, have lunch, and set out for an evening game drive. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
DAY 9: EARLY GAME DRIVE AND BOAT RIDE IN QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK
Wake up to an early morning cup of tea or coffee. You will have an early morning game drive along Kasenyi tracks and Queens Mile, a great opportunity to see lots of wild game as they arise in the warmth of the African sun. Drive back to the lodge for a full breakfast, and later, after lunch, you will enjoy a thrilling two-hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, going through possibly the highest concentration of hippos and birds, offering an excellent platform for photography, bird watching, and game viewing. Drive through the fascinating Crater Lake region on your way back to the lodge. Dinner and overnight.
Day 10: KALINZU, ISHASHA AS YOU TRANSFER TO BWINDI
Drive to Kalinzu forest after breakfast and check out of your safari lodge for a short briefing before taking on the thrilling chimpanzee tracking adventure. I drive to the Ishasha sector of the park for galls in search of the rare tree-climbing lions found only in this part of Uganda. Proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for dinner and overnight at your booked safari lodge.
DAY 11: MOUNTAIN GORILLA TRACKING BWINDI IMPENETRABLE FOREST NATIONAL PARK
After your early morning breakfast, you will drive to the park headquarters for a short briefing before you set off into the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest for your thrilling tracking/trekking mountain Gorillas, remember to take lots of water with you, especially for the trekkers, so you can stay hydrated during this hard adventure. Return to the lodge, check out and drive out of the park, heading for the “Switzerland of Africa”, i.e., Lake Bunyonyi, and check into your booked safari lodge. Later in the afternoon, you will set out for an evening canoeing activity on Uganda’s deepest lake, a great platform for birding. Return to your lodge for dinner and over-night.
Day 12: VISIT LAKE BUNYONYI “SWITZERLAND OF AFRICA”
After your breakfast, you will set out to explore the different islands on the lake while enjoying an exciting boat ride. You will get to visit the various homes of local communities and so much more. After lunch, you will check out of the safari lodge and head over to Lake Mburo National Park, Uganda’s smallest savannah park. Dinner and overnight at your booked safari lodge.
Day 13: EARLY MORNING GAME DRIVE IN LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK
Wake up to a cup of fresh tea or coffee and then set out for an early morning game drive in search of the beautiful different antelope species of this park, as well as zebras. You will return from your early morning game drive with a full breakfast. Later, after lunch, you will set out for a boat cruise on Lake Mburo. This is a good opportunity for bird watching and viewing the aquatic wildlife, i.e. hippos. Return to your pre-booked safari lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 14: SSESE ISLANDS OF LAKE VICTORIA
After breakfast, check out of your safari lodge and drive to the Bukakata landing site to board the ferry which will take you to the Ssese Islands, an archipelago of 84 islands on Lake Victoria. It’s about a three-hour ride to the island on Africa’s second-largest lake. Upon your arrival to Ssese’s largest island, i.e., Kalangala/Bugala Island, you will check into your safari lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 15: Nature Walk and Canoeing
After your breakfast, you will set out for a nature walk to explore the different tree species while identifying different bird species on this island. Return to the lodge for lunch, and in the evening, you will get to explore other different small islands of Ssese and get the opportunity to capture the beautiful sunset as it hits the waters of Lake Victoria while canoeing. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 16: Guided Community Walk
After breakfast, you will head out for a community walk and get to see how the local people of this island live socially, economically, and so on. Return to your lodge for lunch and get some time to relax before an evening tour of the fishing village and landing site. Dinner and overnight.
Day 17: Transfer from Kalangala back to Entebbe
This will be an early morning to catch the morning ferry back to Entebbe exactly at 7:30 am after breakfast. You will have your lunch in Entebbe, and afterwards, you will get some time to check out the Entebbe craft market for some souvenirs and gifts for friends and family back home. Dinner and overnight at your booked hotel or guest house in Entebbe.
Day 18: Ngamba Island chimpanzee sanctuary
We will set out for Ngamba Island, the chimpanzee sanctuary, after breakfast. You will be welcomed by the day caregivers, and you will rest at the resource center for a briefing about the chimpanzees, what to expect, and what will be expected of you as a visitor. Later, you will experience the midday feeding session, have lunch, and set out to the Uganda wildlife education centre. Return to your hotel in Entebbe for dinner and overnight.
Day 19: Entebbe Airport
After your breakfast, you will drive to the Entebbe craft market to get a chance to purchase a few souvenirs for friends and family before you catch your flight back home. Meal plan: F/B end of your 19 days Best Uganda Safari.
